Jo Pavey to take part in Great Scottish Run

British distance runner Jo Pavey announces that she will compete in her first half-marathon in three years when she features at the Great Scottish Run in October.

Jo Pavey has revealed that she expects emotions to be high when she makes her return to Glasgow for the Great Scottish Run in October.

Last summer, Pavey produced one of the performances of the Commonwealth Games to win bronze in the 5000m, and after entering her first half-marathon in three years, the British distance runner has admitted that she is excited to compete in front of another Scottish crowd.

The 41-year-old told the IAAF's official website: "It means a lot to me to be going back to Glasgow for the Great Scottish Run. I really wanted to run last year but it wasn't possible because of injury.

"I think it will be quite emotional for me to be back in Glasgow again. I'll never forget the deafening noise that night I ran at Hampden Park. It felt like a repeat of London 2012. It will be great to come back to run a half-marathon through the city."

Pavey announced last month that she would miss this summer's World Championships to aid her bid to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2016.
