The International Paralymic Committee have released a statement claiming that they will not make any further comments regarding the police investigation concerning double amputee Oscar Pistorius.
The Paralympic sprinter was arrested in the early hours of this morning in Pretoria, South Africa for allegedly shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the arm and in the head at his home.
"Following the news of the alleged shooting incident involving South African athlete Oscar Pistorius this morning, the [IPC] will not be passing any comment on the case at this time," a statement said.
"This is a police matter, with a formal investigation currently under way. Therefore it would be inappropriate for the IPC to comment on this incident until the official police process has concluded. The IPC would like to offer its deepest sympathy and condolences to all families involved in this case."
Reports have claimed that Pistorius, who competed at the London 2012 Paralympic and Olympic Games, is feeling "traumatised" for mistaking his girlfriend for a burglar.
