Eilidh Child has insisted that she is determined to retain her 400m hurdles British Championships title in Birmingham this weekend.
In this afternoon's heat, the 28-year-old eased to victory in a time of 55.98s.
Ahead of tomorrow's final, the Scot said: "It's hard to go easy in the hurdles because you've got to get your stride pattern right. I just went for it and only really switched off at the last hurdle to get my stride pattern. I'm happy to qualify comfortably.
"People think you should be winning, which isn't necessarily a good thing in athletics. I fought hard to win it [last year] and hopefully I can hold it."
Along with Child, Phillipa Lowe and Hayley McLean also qualified for the final.
