Terrell Thomas announces retirement

Former New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas announces his retirement from the game after six years in the NFL.

Former New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday through a statement issued by the organisation.

Thomas spent six seasons in the league and played 60 games with 12 career interceptions and 235 tackles, but also suffered three ACL tears in that time.

"I thought I had two more years," Thomas said through a team release.

"I thought I was about to be a top free agent and continue my career for two more years and show God's grace. But He had a different plan for me."

Thomas will fondly remember his 2013 season in which he recovered from the third ACL tear to complete a full 16-game season and recorded a pick and 58 tackles out of the slot position.
