Stevie Brown hoping for 2014 return

New York Giants safety Stevie Brown says that he is aiming to recovery from his ACL tear in time for the 2014 NFL season.

Stevie Brown has said that he hopes to be able to return to action with the New York Giants next season.

The safety has been placed on the season-ending injured reserve list after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during the team's pre-season game against the New York Jets last weekend.

Speaking publicly for the first time since sustaining the injury, the 26-year-old told reporters: "I'm still trying to get my motion back and get all the swelling out. It's very disappointing. You work all summer getting ready for the season and just a freak accident like that to happen definitely sucks.

"I've talked to [cornerback Terrell Thomas] a few times. I was asking him about the different type of surgeries that he's had and the different surgeons that he's had. Just the whole recovery process. I know me and him are going to get together some time this weekend and talk a little bit more as well."

Brown made 72 tackles, two forced fumbles and eight interceptions for the Giants last season.
