Bill Belichick: 'We are only focused on the 2015 season'

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is adamant that his side cannot be distracted by the ongoing scandal surronding the deflategate incident.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has insisted that his team are moving on from their Super Bowl triumph and the deflategate scandal in preparation for the 2015 season.

The Patriots recorded a 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks back in February to clinch their fourth Vince Lombardi trophy, but have recently been rocked by the findings of Ted Wells in the report into the deflategate scandal.

Wells found that it was more probable than not that the Patriots had deflated footballs in their AFC championship win over the Indianapolis Colts, while quarterback Tom Brady was said to be generally aware that the incident took place.

New England were docked their first-round pick in the 2016 Draft and a fourth-round selection in 2017, while Brady was banned for four matches, although he has appealed his suspension.

However, Belichick is adamant that his side cannot be distracted by the incidents off the field as they prepare to defend their crown.

He told reporters: We're just going day by day right now. Everybody's working hard trying to get better. That's what we're all doing.

"That [the Super Bowl] was a long time ago. We're on to next year. It's 2015. You can forget about last year; that was last year."

Brady's appeal will reportedly be heard on June 23 after the end of New England's mini-camp.
