Report: Carolina Panthers' Jonathan Martin to retire from the NFL

A report suggests that Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Jonathan Martin will retire from the NFL due to a back injury after four seasons in the league.

Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Jonathan Martin is preparing to announce his retirement from the NFL, according to a report.

The 25-year-old was embroiled in a bullying scandal at the Miami Dolphins in the 2013 season when it emerged that he was being verbally abused by teammate Richie Incognito.

Martin spent the 2014 campaign with the San Francisco 49ers, but was waived in the off-season before being signed by the Panthers.

However, the tackle has now made the decision to retire from the game due to a back injury, reports NFL Network.

Martin made 38 appearances in his three seasons in the league.
