Beverley Callard reveals that she "could" be tempted to make a Coronation Street comeback as Liz McDonald in the future.

Beverley Callard has admitted that she could be tempted back to Coronation Street in the future.

The actress left her role as the iconic Liz McDonald in 2020 in a rushed fashion as a serious foot injury meant that the character had to be written out abruptly off screen.

Initially Callard said that she intended to return the soap to film a proper exit for Liz, who made her cobbles debut in 1989, but in an interview a year ago she claimed that she had "shut the door on Coronation Street forever".

Appearing on this week's Celebrity Catchphrase, Callard was asked by host Stephen Mulhern if Liz could return to Weatherfield in the future.

"Yes, she could do, she could do," she replied, adding: "When I'm not busy I might think about it."

During her three decades on the soap Callard racked up appearances in more than 2,400 episodes.
