Strictly Come Dancing producers reportedly want to sign up Mel Giedroyc for the full-length series in 2022.

Mel Giedroyc is reportedly wanted for the main series of Strictly Come Dancing after her appearance on the 2021 Christmas Special.

The TV presenter - former host of The Great British Bake Off - was partnered up with Neil Jones for the episode, scoring a perfect 40 out of 40 from the judges for her street dance to 'Ice Ice Baby'.

Although she did not go on to win, The Sun says that producers were sufficiently impressed to make her a top target for the main series in 2022.

"They saw how popular she was and her performance surprised everyone," a source told the newspaper. "They've tried to get her to sign up before but really want her for next year's show."

Producers are also said to be interested in signing up Anne-Marie, who won the special, for the new series.
