Mel Giedroyc is named as the third celebrity competing in this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

TV presenter Mel Giedroyc has been named as the third celebrity taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

The former Great British Bake Off host joins Fred Sirieix and Jay Blades in the lineup for the annual show, which is returning this year after a break in 2020 due to coronavirus.

"I don't think I've been this excited about Christmas since I got my first guinea-pig from Santa in 1978," said Giedroyc, 53.

The comedian - one half of a presenting duo with Sue Perkins - has been paired up with Neil Jones, who was voted off first with celeb partner Nina Wadia during the currently-running main series.

The Strictly Christmas special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day.
