The Queen strips Harvey Weinstein of honorary CBE

Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein is stripped of his honorary CBE title by Buckingham Palace.

Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been stripped of his honorary CBE by The Queen, it has been confirmed.

The 68-year-old is several months into a 23-year prison sentence for sexual assault, having been found guilty of two charges by a New York jury in February.

More than 80 women had come forward to allege that Weinstein had abused or been inappropriate with them over a timespan of decades as part of a major expose that started the #MeToo movement.

The movie producer was awarded his honorary CBE in 2004 for his contributions to the British film industry but has now had that title rescinded by Buckingham Palace.

Weinstein has previously been stripped of his Fellowship at the BFI, as well as his knight of the Legion of Honour title in France.

The convicted rapist is now facing another trial for sexual assault charges by prosecutors in Los Angeles.
