Taylor Swift announces release of re-recorded Love Story

Taylor Swift announces that a new version of her hit 'Love Story' will be released on Friday.

Taylor Swift has announced that 'Love Story' will be the first re-recorded track she releases from her old material.

The rights to the 31-year-old's back catalogue were sold to a venture capital firm last year against her wishes, after which Swift announced plans to record new versions of her first six albums.

The first for that treatment is 2008's Fearless, which will be reissued as Fearless (Taylor's Version) on April 9 with new versions of all of the album's tracks, in addition to six songs that were scrapped from the final cut of the album at the time.

Appearing on Thursday's Good Morning America, the singer-songwriter announced that the album would be preceded by lead single 'Love Story' this Friday.

Posting on Twitter afterwards, she wrote: "I've spoken a lot about why I'm remaking my first six albums, but the way I've chosen to do this will hopefully illuminate where I'm coming from.

"Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really knows that body of work."

The release of Fearless will mark Swift's third album in less than a year after she released surprise lockdown-inspired records Folklore and Evermore in 2020.
