The summer edition of Love Island will begin in less than eight weeks, according to a report.

The new series of Love Island will reportedly begin in less than eight weeks.

The dating show - hosted by Maya Jama - only wrapped up its South Africa-set winter edition a month ago on March 13, with Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan being named winners.

The summer edition will once again take place in Mallorca, and according to The Sun, the start date has now been set for Monday, June 5.

"Love Island will start on June 5, just as people are getting ready to enjoy their summers," a source told the newspaper.

"ITV have already lined up the islanders who will be heading to the show's villa in Majorca.

"The cast will fly out late next month ready for the show to begin in just eight weeks.

"It is hugely exciting and those working on the show cannot wait to get started.

"This series will be eight weeks long, meaning the couple who win the show will be in the villa for two months.

"Maya is chomping at the bit to get to work on this series too. Having her on board has given Love Island a real boost and it's expected that ratings will soar."

The new series will mark the 10th edition of the format since it was revived by ITV2 in 2015.
