ITV reportedly decides to bring back the winter edition of Love Island for another run next year.

ITV has reportedly given the go-ahead to another winter edition of Love Island for early 2024.

A second yearly edition of the hugely-popular dating format was first broadcast in 2020 but was then put on hold for three years due to the coronavirus pandemic, before returning this January with new host Maya Jama.

Although ratings were down significantly on the summer run, they were still substantial for ITV2 and ITVX, and The Sun says that the broadcaster has quickly waved through a recommission.

"Love Island have already informed the owners of the £1.2million villa in South Africa that they want to return there at the end of this year ahead of the winter 2024 show," a source told the newspaper.

"With Maya at the helm for the summer series, ITV think she will only increase its popularity which they think will carry onto the next winter edition."

This year's series concluded a fortnight ago with Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan being crowned winners.
