Dame Joan Collins receives coronavirus vaccine

Dame Joan Collins posts a picture revealing that she has received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

Dame Joan Collins has revealed that she has been given the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The 87-year-old actress has previously admitted that she has found lockdown restrictions an affront "to my civil rights, my human rights, my rights to live as a civilised human being and not in a draconian society".

Due to her age, Dame Joan was among the first to become eligible for the new two-dose coronavirus vaccines and in an Instagram post this weekend, she shared the news that she has received her first jab of the new Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.

Alongside a picture of her being injected, she wrote: "Delighted to get @astrazeneca @ouhospitals #vaccine yesterday morning at the @nhsenglandldn Bloomsbury surgery - thank you Mr. @rajgill2585 and @dr_ammarahughes for a painless and seamless procedure! Same day as our Queen! #honoured #registernow"

Around 1.5 million people have now received the vaccine in the UK, although the government hopes to grow that number to 15 million by the middle of next month.
