Loveline Obiji powers to gold with world record lift

Loveline Obiji wins Nigeria's second Commonwealth Games gold medal of the day with a world record lift.

Nigeria's Loveline Obiji has set a new world record on her way to winning gold in the women's Para-sport heavyweight powerlifting at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old recorded a best lift of 144.0kg to set the record in the weight category, while teammate Bose Omolayo took silver.

Joyce Wambui Njuguna of Kenya secured bronze at the Clyde Auditorium to complete the podium.

The gold medal for Nigeria is their second of the day after Esther Oyema's earlier success in the lightweight category.
