Olympic champion Om lifted 170kg in the men's 56kg class to beat his record by 1kg and claim his country's first gold medal at the games.

After his record-breaking lift, Om told reporters: "I wanted to break the record, so I worked hard to bring success to [North Korean leader] Kim Jong-un."

Om, the 2013 world champion, is now one of only five lifters in weightlifting history to lift more than three times his own weight.
