Bob, Mike Bryan beaten by Sam Querrey, Steve Johnson in US Open first round

Bob and Mike Bryan are shocked in the first round of the US Open by Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson.

Number one seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan have lost 6-7 7-5 to Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson in the first round of the men's doubles at the US Open.

The brothers, who have won 16 Grand Slam championships, lost the first set in a tie-break. The set went to serve but the Bryans lost two early points in the tie-break to lose it 7-4.

In the second set, the defending champions had to save match point four times before breaking in game 11 and taking the set by a score of 7-5.

The world number ones were broken early in the final set and Querrey and Johnson held serve to progress to the second round.

The loss signals the first year since 2004 that the Bryan brothers have not won a Grand Slam in a calendar year.
