Milos Raonic shakes off injury concern to progress through at Roland Garros

Andrej Martin fails to make Milos Raonic pay for a number of dropped set points, as he falls to a 7-6(4) 6-2 6-3 defeat at the third-round stage of the French Open.

The Canadian needed just short of three hours to get the job done, claiming a 7-6(4) 6-2 6-3 triumph to pave the way for a fourth-round clash against either Jack Sock or Albert Ramos at Roland Garros.

Martin pushed his opponent all the way in the first set when setting up a tie-break after both players lost serve on a couple of occasions.

Raonic was not made to pay for his failure to take a whopping seven set points, though, as he finally edged out Martin to take the opener before breezing through the second set in a far more straightforward manner.

A couple of successful breaks in the opening three games then put the number eight seed in control, and he did not look back this time when taking his first set point.

More points would be squandered by Raonic, who received treatment to his troublesome hip at one stage, but it did not matter too much as he become the first male player to book his place in the round of 16 at this year's event.
