Sir Andy Murray makes it through to the fourth round of the Australian Open with a convincing straight-sets victory over Sam Querrey.

World number one Sir Andy Murray has defeated Sam Querrey in straight sets to advance through to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

The Scot - the new favourite after Novak Djokovic's shock exit on Thursday - wrapped up a 6-4 6-2 6-4 victory in just one hour 59 minutes at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne.

World number 31 Querrey never really troubled Murray, his best chance of turning the narrative coming with a break point in the eighth game of the first set, but his opponent was able to save the game before turning the tables with a successful break in the next game.

Murray went on to win seven games in a row as he took the second set with ease, with an exchange of breaks early in the third followed by a decisive break to secure the contest for the favourite.

A fourth-round tie now against Germany's Mischa Zverev now awaits the title-chasing Murray, who has previously finished runner-up five times.
