Preview: Swansea City vs. Millwall - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship fixture between Swansea City and Millwall, including team news and predicted lineups.

Swansea City and Millwall meet at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon having both put together three-match unbeaten streaks in the Championship.

While the Swans have seven points to their name courtesy of two wins and a draw, the Lions sit two points adrift after claiming just one league win in September.

While there is no doubt that Swansea are missing the presence of Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster, tightening up at the other end has helped them impress during the early weeks of this season.

Ben Cabango, Joe Rodon and Marc Guehi, who have formed a three-man defence, have helped the Welsh side keep clean sheets against Preston North End, Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers.

Although tougher tests lie ahead, Steve Cooper will be delighted with a return of seven points, leaving the club in third position heading into the weekend.

Cooper is biding his time before looking to sign another forward, presumably on loan from a Premier League side, and it has provided Jamal Lowe and Andre Ayew to strike up a double-act in the final third.

With Morgan Gibbs-White also emerging as a key man after his loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers, everything is moving in the right direction ahead of their next outing.

Based on their current form, Millwall should provide Swansea with their most difficult challenge to date after holding Brentford to a draw last weekend.

Like his opposite number, Lions boss Gary Rowett will be desperate for a better return in the final third, but he will be proud of their efforts at the back.

The solitary goal which they have conceded came from the penalty spot, meaning that two of the best three defences in the division will be going head to head on Saturday.

Millwall collected four points from their double-header against Swansea last season, three of which were earned from a 1-0 win in the clash at the Liberty Stadium.

Team News

Rowett will contemplate a change in the Millwall attack with Tom Bradshaw failing to make an impact against Brentford.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Matt Smith are both in contention to take the place of the Wales international.

Cooper is likely to stick with the same starting lineup for the fourth match in succession.

That leaves the likes of Jay Fulton and Wayne Routledge having to remain patient in their search for a role in the first XI.

Swansea City possible starting lineup:
Woodman; Cabango, Rodon, Guehi; Roberts, Smith, Grimes, Bidwell; Gibbs-White; Lowe, Ayew

Millwall possible starting lineup:
Bialkowski; Hutchinson, Pearce, Cooper; Romeo, Leonard, Woods, Malone; Wallace, Bennett; Bodvarsson

We say: Swansea City 1-1 Millwall

With these clubs possessing two of the best defensive records in the second tier, do not expect many goals in this game. While Swansea will look to make most of the running, they do not have the firepower to put themselves into a commanding position, something which should allow Millwall to earn a share of the spoils.
