A report claims that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba took responsibility for Sunday's stalemate with Liverpool after missing the game's best opportunity.

Paul Pogba reportedly apologised to his Manchester United teammates after wasting a golden chance in Sunday's top-of-the-table stalemate with Liverpool.

The French midfielder fired straight at Alisson Becker from around 10 yards late on in the goalless draw at Anfield.

The draw leaves United two points clear at the top of the table, though second-place Manchester City have a game in hand to play.

It was therefore considered an opportunity missed for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men against out-of-form opponents and, according to Metro, Pogba heaped the blame onto himself in the dressing room.

Skipper Harry Maguire and midfield partner Scott McTominay are said to have consoled the World Cup winner, who was one of United's better performers on the day.

The Red Devils have little time to reflect on the draw as they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening.
