Mohamed Salah 'could miss three months of next season'

Liverpool may reportedly have to make do without Mohamed Salah for up to three months of the 2021-22 campaign owing to Olympic and AFCON duties with Egypt.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah could supposedly miss up to three months for the Reds next season due to international commitments.

With national sides allowed to take three players over the age of 23 to the Tokyo Olympics, Salah is all but guaranteed to travel with the Egypt team to next year's tournament.

Furthermore, the next Africa Cup of Nations was supposed to take place between January and February next year, but with the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc across the globe, that tournament has now been moved to early 2022.

As a result, the Daily Mail reports that Salah is set to miss a large chunk of Liverpool's 2021-22 campaign, while Jurgen Klopp may also have to cope without Sadio Mane and Naby Keita if they are chosen to represent Senegal and Guinea in AFCON respectively.

Salah has made yet another prolific start to the season in Liverpool colours, notching up nine goals and one assist in all competitions for the Premier League champions so far.

However, Liverpool appear to be in good hands should they lose two star attackers to international duty next season, with Diogo Jota bagging a hat-trick for the Reds in a 5-0 thrashing of Atalanta in Tuesday's Champions League fixture.
