Preview: Bournemouth vs. Nottingham Forest - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bournemouth will be looking to maintain their positive momentum when they take on Nottingham Forest at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Cherries have won back-to-back matches and are second in the division, while opponents Forest are down in 20th place after losing to Barnsley last time out.

Jason Tindall described his side's second-half display against Reading on Saturday as the "benchmark" if they are to earn promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Bournemouth trailed 2-0 at the interval, but after some strong words from Tindall and some tactical tweaks, the South Coast side went on to win 4-2.

Dominic Solanke netted twice, taking his tally for the season to four goals in 12 outings, while Arnaut Danjuma and Lewis Cook were also on target in the entertaining match.

That victory follows on from a 3-1 success at Birmingham City prior to the international break and leaves the Cherries a point behind leaders Norwich City with 12 games played.

Forest went down to a couple of late goals at Barnsley last time out, meanwhile, with Callum Styles and Cauley Woodrow inflicting a sixth defeat of the season on the Reds.

Chris Hughton has made a positive impact since taking over at the City Ground last month, winning three, drawing three and losing two of his eight games in charge.

The loss at Oakwell is a setback, though, and it means Forest have taken only one point from the last nine on offer away from home.

Bournemouth, by comparison, are six without defeat at home this term, while going further back they are unbeaten in 16 second-tier matches at the Vitality Stadium.

However, the Cherries have lost back-to-back matches with Forest, with those defeats coming home and away in the 2014-15 Championship season.

Team News

Lewis Cook made a swift return to action against Reading and is expected to start again here, though Dan Gosling is on standby to slot in alongside Jefferson Lerma.

Adam Smith and Philip Billing were left out on Saturday after coming into close proximity with Joshua King, who tested positive for coronavirus.

All three are likely to be absent again in midweek, which has somewhat limited Tindall's options when it comes to rotation.

As for Forest, they are without Tyler Blackett, Fouad Bachirou and Joe Worrall for the trip to the South Coast.

Lewis Grabban is another who has been struggling with injury, but Joe Lolley and Ryan Yates did at least return to the XI last time out.

After being brought on as a second-half substitute at the weekend, Luke Freeman is in contention to start this match.

Bournemouth possible starting lineup:
Begovic; Stacey, S.Cook, Kelly, Rico; Lerma, L.Cook, Stanislas; Brooks, Solanke, Danjuma

Nottingham Forest possible starting lineup:
Samba; Christie, Figueiredo, McKenna, Ribeiro; Knockaert, Yates, Colback, Lolley; Guerrero; Taylor

We say: Bournemouth 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Only three teams have a worse away record than Forest in the Championship this season, while Bournemouth have taken more points at home than any other side.

The Cherries have momentum on their side and we expect to see them make it three wins in a row on Tuesday.
