Mark Gatiss is to star opposite Helena Bonham Carter in new biopic drama Nolly.

Mark Gatiss has joined the cast of Nolly, the new Russell T Davies drama about Crossroads legend Noele Gordon.

Helena Bonham Carter has previously been announced as playing Gordon, an iconic actress who was one of the most famous women in Britain in the '60s and '70s before she was suddenly axed from the ITV soap in 1981.

Gatiss will play the part of Larry Grayson, the flamboyant entertainer who had a close personal relationship with Gordon, while Richard Lintern has been cast as Ronnie Allen, who played Crossroads hotel manager David Hunter.

Also joining the cast are Augustus Prew, who will star as Nolly's co-star, friend and occasional chauffeur Tony Adams, and Con O'Neill will play Crossroads producer Jack Barton.

The three-part drama will premiere on new streaming service ITVX early next year.
