ITV commissions new gameshow The Void with hosts Ashley Banjo and Fleur East.

ITV has announced details of a new Saturday night gameshow, The Void, from the makers of long-running format The Cube.

The new show will see contestants take on a variety of physical and mental challenges while trying not to fall into 'The Void' - a giant tank on the floor below containing 520,000 litres of water.

The series will be hosted by Dancing On Ice judge Ashley Banjo and The X Factor star Fleur East on location at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.

"I literally cannot wait to get started on this one! The concept is so simple...can you cross 'The Void' and reach the prize on the other side?" said Banjo.

"But if the brains behind The Cube have anything to do with it (which they do of course) it will be anything but simple!

"It's also the first game show I've been lucky enough to host and all alongside the amazing Fleur East, which is another thing I'm buzzing about. So all in all, there's no doubt in my mind this is going to be immense!"

ITV has ordered a seven-episode first series for broadcast later this year.
