Ant & Dec confirm that they will step down from hosting Saturday Night Takeaway after the next series.

Ant & Dec have announced that they will be leaving Saturday Night Takeaway after the next series in 2024.

The pair have hosted the general entertainment show since 2002 but have decided that the next run - the 20th series - will be their last "for now".

Whether the show will remain on air with a different host or hosts remains to be seen, but an ITV statement described the duo's move as merely "a break".

"We love making Saturday Night Takeaway, but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath," said Ant.

Dec added: "We still have a momentous 20th series to look forward to first so we will do our best to go out (for now) with a bang in 2024."

Ant & Dec have a golden handcuffs deal with ITV that will see them continue to host Britain's Got Talent, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and Limitless Win until at least 2025.
