Andrew Neil's first guest on his new Channel 4 politics show will be Jacob Rees-Mogg MP.

Government minister Jacob Rees-Mogg will be the first big interview on Andrew Neil's new Channel 4 show, it has been announced.

The Andrew Neil Show begins on Sunday at 8pm and will see the UK's fiercest political interviewer recap the events of the week and interrogate those in power.

Neil's first guest has now been confirmed as Rees-Mogg, the former Leader of the House of Commons and now the Minister for Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiencies.

The interview comes a few days after this year's local elections, which saw the Conservatives lose almost 500 council seats across the UK and overall control of 11 councils.

Neil is also expected to grill Rees-Mogg on the future of Boris Johnson as prime minister, the rising cost of living and the war in Ukraine.
