American Dad! is confirmed to return for its 18th and 19th seasons.

US network TBS has renewed American Dad! for a further two seasons, meaning that the show will be on air until at least 2024.

The animated comedy - created by Seth MacFarlane - started out life on FOX, switching in 2014 to TBS, where the 17th season is due to premiere next month.

"We are all so grateful to TBS for this two-season pickup," said co-creator Matt Weitzman.

"Getting seasons 18 and 19 means we will finally be able to tell the stories we only dreamed of telling in seasons 16 and 17.

"Much thanks also to everyone at 20th Television Animation for all their continued support of American Dad's many years of corrupting our nation's, nay, the world's youth...most of whom are now about to turn 40."

In the UK, new episodes of the show premiere via Star on Disney+.
