Strictly pro Amy Dowden to open up on medical condition in new documentary

Strictly Come Dancing pro Amy Dowden will open up on living with Crohn's disease for a new BBC Wales documentary.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden is to open up on the experience of living with Crohn's disease for a new BBC Wales documentary.

The 30-year-old has been part of the BBC ballroom show for the last three years, most recently finishing as runner-up in the 2019 series with celebrity partner Karim Zeroual.

In Amy Dowden: Crohn's And Me, the dancer will talk about being diagnosed with the condition - a form of an inflammatory bowel disease - at the age of 19 and how it has affected her career.

The programme is one of a number of celebrity-led commissions announced by BBC Wales for this autumn, with comedian Rhod Gilbert discussing being infertile and Carol Vorderman exploring North Wales in a three-part travelogue.

Other shows will explore being black and Welsh, the history of black miners in Wales and the story of a Welsh teen in the process of transitioning from male to female.
