Fred Sirieix and Jay Blades are announced as the first two celebrities taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing special.

First Dates' Fred Sirieix and The Repair Shop's Jay Blades have been announced as the first two celebrities for this year's Strictly Come Dancing special.

After a break in 2020 due to coronavirus, the festive special returns this year with six new celebrities aiming to be crowned Christmas Champion 2021.

Sirieix will be paired up with Dianne Buswell, who was teamed with Robert Webb in the currently-airing series, while Blades will be dancing with Luba Mushtuk.

"I absolutely love Christmas so I'm delighted to be taking part in the Strictly Christmas special and to be partnered with the magnificent Dianne," said Sirieix.

"I hope my dance moves bring some Christmas joy to everybody watching at home and don't make the judges say, 'bah, Humbug!'"

Blades added: "I'm super excited, times two! One, because I'm going to learn a new dance apart from the 'Dad' dance, and two because I'm going to be on Strictly!

"It's a show that I've always admired, and I can't wait to see how I perform!"

The show airs on BBC One on Christmas Day.
