Media mogul Rupert Murdoch reportedly splits from his wife of six years Jerry Hall.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has reportedly split from his fourth wife Jerry Hall after six years of marriage.

The 91-year-old - owner of titles such as The Sun, The Times and The New York Post - tied the knot with the former model, now 65, in 2016 after dating for less than a year.

According to The New York Times, two sources close to the couple have confirmed that they have not only split but they are proceeding with a divorce.

The news is unlikely to have much, if any, impact on the structure of Murdoch's global empire as there is already a long-established ownership structure involving his six children.

Murdoch's previous marriages were to flight attendant Patricia Brooker (1956-1967), journalist Anna Torv (1967-1999) and TV executive Wendi Deng (1999-2013).

Hall, meanwhile, was previously the long-term partner to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
