Marvel's Captain America star Chris Evans has been named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2022.

The title, which is decided by the magazine's staff, has been awarded every year since 1985, when Mel Gibson was named the inaugural Sexiest Man.

Evans, 41, takes over as Sexiest Man from fellow Avengers star Paul Rudd and also follows in the footsteps of Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, who took the title in 2014.

"My mom will be so happy," Evans told the magazine. "She's proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about."

Other previous winners include Idris Elba, David Beckham, Richard Gere and Sean Connery.
