Tamar Braxton allegedly sent her family a disturbing message before she is said to have attempted suicide.

Tamar Braxton allegedly sent a distressing message to her family before making what appears to have been an attempt at suicide.

The 43-year-old was hospitalised on Thursday after being found unresponsive by her boyfriend David Adefeso, who is said to have told police that she had taken an overdose of pills and alcohol.

According to The Blast, Braxton composed a chilling tweet before the incident - but rather than posting it decided to send it on to family members instead.

"I am a slave. I do not own my life," it reads. "My stories. My pictures. My thoughts or beliefs. I've asked my massa to free me. I'm threatened and punished for it.

"The only way I see out is death. I will choose that before I continue to [live] like this. please help me."

Tamar's older sister Toni Braxton was spotted arriving at the hospital where she is being treated on Friday.
