Sheridan Smith in line for Stars In Their Eyes reboot?

Sheridan Smith reportedly signs up to appear as a judge on Starstruck, ITV's upcoming reboot of Stars In Their Eyes.

Sheridan Smith has reportedly signed a deal to appear as one of the judges on ITV's upcoming reboot of Stars In Their Eyes.

The show was a staple of weekend TV in the 1990s and saw contestants given makeovers to look like their favourite musicians before taking to the stage to perform one of their signature songs.

The new version has the working title called Starstruck, and according to The Sun, actress and singer Smith is on board as the first celebrity judge.

"The show was supposed to get moving this year but the pandemic delayed everything," a source told the newspaper. "Now it's back on track and the plan is to get it on air next autumn.

"Sheridan is the perfect fit for the show as one of the judges. Her job will be to critique the acts and then give them advice after they have performed.

"Along with being a fantastic actress, Sheridan is a talented singer and after playing Cilla Black in the ITV show about her life, she knows a thing or two about impersonating amazing singers.

"Everyone working on the show is really excited. Casting has begun and Sheridan is itching to get started."

Filming is scheduled to begin in May for broadcast next Autumn.
