Shannen Doherty "not ready for pasture" amid stage IV cancer battle

Shannen Doherty insists that she has a lot of life left to live as she battles stage IV breast cancer.

Shannen Doherty has insisted that she has "got a lot of life" left yet as she continues to battle breast cancer.

The 49-year-old - best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed - was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015 but after treatment and a mastectomy was in remission by 2017.

Earlier this year she announced that her cancer had returned and was at stage IV - meaning that it has spread to other parts of the body.

"It's like anybody with Stage IV faces this sort of thing, where others want to put you out to pasture," Doherty told Elle magazine. "I'm not ready for pasture. I've got a lot of life in me.

"I haven't sat down to write letters. That's something I need to do. There are things I need to say to my mom. I want my husband to know what he's meant to me.

"I feel like I'm a very, very healthy human being. It's hard to wrap up your affairs when you feel like you're going to live another 10 or 15 years."

Doherty is currently undergoing hormone therapy as part of her treatment against the disease.
