Roman Kemp steps back from Capital FM after death of friend

Roman Kemp takes time off his breakfast radio show following the death of a close friend.

Roman Kemp is taking a short break from his Capital FM breakfast show after the death of a close friend.

The 27-year-old, together with co-hosts Sonny Jay and Sian Welby, are thought to have been informed about the death of a former colleague partway through Tuesday morning's show.

Having interviewed girl group Little Mix, the trio then abruptly disappeared from the airwaves and have now been replaced by Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield for the immediate future.

"Roman and his colleagues are in complete shock, they can't believe someone they were all close to is gone," a source told The Sun.

"They've all been left completely shattered by the upsetting news and are taking some time to grieve and digest the tragedy. It's a tough time for them all right now."

Roman is due to host his Sunday morning ITV show with his father Martin Kemp this weekend, although it is unclear yet whether he will feel up to taking part.
