New chaser on 'The Chase' revealed

A former contestant is named as a new chaser on ITV gameshow The Chase.

A former contestant has been chosen to become a new chaser on ITV's popular quiz show The Chase.

Darragh Ennis, a researcher at Oxford University, appeared on the show in 2017 and won £9,000 for his team, only for his teammates to go on to accept lower offers to reduce the prize pot to £2,700.

After the episode aired, Ennis became a viral sensation and the hashtag #JusticeForDarragh began trending on Twitter following his teammates' actions.

Now Ennis has been chosen by producers to join the team as a sixth chaser, making him the first new addition since Jenny Ryan was inducted five years ago.

"Darragh has got what it takes to be a Chaser, he has been put to the test and passed with flying colours," a source told The Mirror.

"They don't bring in new members on The Chase regularly so this is a big deal for the show and Darragh. Viewers will be very interested to see how he gets on.

"The show is so popular with spin off shows now as well so there is a need to increase the team. No one is leaving, Darragh is very much an addition to the team."

Ennis has since updated his Twitter bio to list himself as "Chaser on The Chase".
