ITV 'planning Have I Got News For You-style show with kids'

ITV reportedly develops a new show described as cross between Have I Got News For You and Gogglebox with children as the contributors.

ITV is reportedly developing a new show described as a cross between Have I Got News For You and Gogglebox, with children as contributors.

Called The News At Five And A Half, the 30-minute show will see youngsters give their take on the major political and current affairs issues of the week, such as Boris Johnson's handling of the coronavirus crisis and Donald Trump's refusal to accept the US election result.

"With shows like Gogglebox a real and continuing hit with TV fans, ITV bosses hope this new series - with children delivering their version of and verdict on the weekly news - is going to likewise triumph in the viewing stakes," a source told The Sun.

"Viewers will see exactly how kids perceive the world and pick up news around them, with hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking consequences."

Have I Got News For You recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary on the BBC and is currently in the middle of airing its 60th series.
