Doctor Alex takes social media break after death of younger brother

Doctor Alex George announces a break from social media following the tragic death of his younger brother last month.

Doctor Alex George has announced that he will be taking a break from social media following the death of his younger brother last month.

The 30-year-old, a former contestant on Love Island, spent the first half of the year keeping his 1.5 million followers updated with the latest coronavirus developments from the frontline through his day job as an A&E doctor.

Late last month George revealed the heartbreaking news that he had lost his 20-year-old brother Llyr to mental health issues, just weeks before the youngster was due to start medical school himself.

Posting on Instagram earlier this week, George told his followers: "I have decided to take a few weeks off social media. With everything that's happened it's important for my mental health that I take some time offline.

"I am focusing on my family and friends as well as looking after myself. I'm also going to spend some time thinking and working on a few projects that are close to my heart.

"Without doubt A&E will continue to keep me busy too. Thank you for your support and see you all in a few weeks. Stay safe and be kind to yourselves."

A few weeks ago the star revealed that he had been subjected to a cruel message from a troll questioning why he was still active on social media in the wake of his brother's death.
