Dave orders second series of Meet The Richardsons

Dave confirms 10 new episodes of its surprise hit Meet The Richardsons, including two Christmas specials to air this year.

Dave has given the go-ahead to a new series of Meet The Richardsons after its impressive performance for the channel earlier this year.

The show follows married comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont as fictionalised versions of themselves as they go about their lives in Yorkshire.

The first series was a surprise hit, averaging out at 1.13 million viewers an episode, prompting UKTV to order an eight-episode second series as well as two Christmas specials.

The new run will follow the pair in life after lockdown, some "spooky goings-on" at The Dog & Bastard as well as their attempts to put together the perfect family Christmas.

"So glad to be getting paid to have an argument again," said Beaumont. "Lockdown has been weird living with someone who has spent his life practising social distancing and frequent handwashing. If the government advise wearing beige cardigans and being a tedious grump I know something has been going on."

Richardson added: "It's great news that there will be a second series of Meet The Richardsons. I can't wait to give away the few private moments of my life that aren't already in the public domain and welcome the crew back to The D & B with open arms. It was getting boring drinking alone in there anyway. Really. Fantastic stuff."

The two specials will air this Christmas, with the second series following early in 2021.
