Cristiano Ronaldo 'to become new face of Compare The Market'

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly signs a deal worth at least £1 million to front an ad campaign for Compare The Market.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed a deal worth at least £1 million to film an advert for the price comparison website Compare The Market.

For the last 11 years a family of CGI meerkats have been deployed to promote the website under the slogan 'Compare The Meerkat'.

According to The Sun, Juventus superstar Ronaldo will star alongside two of the meerkats - Alexandr and Sergei - in a campaign that will be filmed in the UK in the next fortnight.

The deal is thought to be for a single advert, meaning that the 35-year-old is unlikely to appear in the company's sponsorship segments around Coronation Street.

"Cristiano is never one to turn down a money-spinning deal and jumped at the chance to earn this dosh for what is, essentially, an afternoon or so's work," a source told the newspaper.

"Compare The Market love a big name signing so were delighted to get this one over the line."

Ronaldo is no stranger to a sponsorship deal, having previously fronted campaigns for the likes of Nike, Suzuki and KFC.
