Charles Ingram brands 'Quiz' "horribly cringeworthy"

Charles Ingram gives a five-star review of ITV miniseries Quiz but admits that it is a "horribly cringeworthy" experience to relive the saga.

Charles Ingram has given his verdict on the ITV series Quiz after watching the first episode, describing the experience as "horribly cringeworthy" for him.

In 2003 Ingram and his wife Diana were found guilty of succeeding with an elaborate plot for Charles to cheat his way to the top prize on Chris Tarrant gameshow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? two years prior.

New three-part miniseries Quiz retells the story of how they pulled off the scam, with Matthew Macfadyen playing the part of Charles and Michael Sheen impersonating Tarrant.

Taking to Twitter after the first episode aired last night, Ingram wrote: "#Quiz. WOW. The cast, the story, the scenes, simply brilliant.

"Terrifyingly accurate and oh yes, horribly cringeworthy. Floored by the pure talent on show tonight. Well done too to @ITV. Gutsy."

Quiz continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
