Cloris Leachman has died of natural causes at the age of 94, it has been announced.

The actress, whose career in Hollywood started in the 1940s, is the joint most-decorated star in Emmy history, winning eight times from a record 22 nominations.

Speaking to TMZ, her son confirmed that she died peacefully at her home in California on Tuesday night with her daughter Dinah at her side.

In a statement, Leachman's agent Juliet Green said: "It's been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearless actresses of our time.
