Tom Cruise 'buys two robots to patrol Mission Impossible set'

Tom Cruise reportedly invests in two "state-of-the-art robots" to patrol the set of Mission Impossible.

Tom Cruise has reportedly invested in two robots in an attempt to keep the set of Mission Impossible safe from coronavirus.

The actor hit the headlines last month following the leak of an audio recording in which he angrily berated two members of the crew for standing too close to each other and breaking social distancing protocols.

According to The Sun, Cruise has now employed two hi-tech robots to patrol the set and ensure COVID-compliance for what remains of the shoot.

"Tom is so serious about making sure the shoot isn't shut down that he's splashed out on these robots as he can't be everywhere to ensure people are behaving themselves," a source told the newspaper.

"Yes, the rant that came out last month may have been a bit over the top, but he was right, and those who saw the story sympathised with him.

"He gets paid a lot for these films but he also knows that he is lucky to be working and staff on the film from top to bottom rely on this film going ahead.

"You don't have to go far to see how just how much the pandemic has affected jobs.

"The robots are really sophisticated and rather intimidating. It's like the Terminator, only not as violent."

The seventh and eighth movies are currently being shot back to back, with the first due for release this November.
