Idris Elba reportedly begins talks about taking on the role of a villain in the next James Bond movie.

Idris Elba has reportedly started talks about playing a villain in the next film in the James Bond franchise.

The next movie after the recently-released No Time To Die will be the first to feature a new actor in the iconic role after Daniel Craig stepped down.

Idris himself has previously been linked with the part, although according to The Sun, he is instead being lined up to play 007's next nemesis.

"Idris has had informal talks with the studio and he has been told there is a role in the next Bond film for him, if he wants it," a source told the newspaper.

"He won't be the title character, but they do recognise the amount of pull and respect he commands, and they want to work with him on a completely original character for the next instalment.

"It is still very early days for the conversations but, so far, it looks like it would be the role of a villain."

Among the favourites to replace Craig are Tom Hardy, Rege-Jean Page and Tom Hopper.
