In a shakeup to the usual format, the BAFTA Film Awards will be presented over the course of one weekend this year.

BAFTA has announced that this year's Film Awards will be presented over the course of one weekend in a shakeup to the usual format.

The ceremony has already been delayed by two months due to coronavirus and now organisers have decided to separate the event into two main segments.

While the Oscars will be a strictly in-person event only, the BAFTAs have acknowledged that most nominees will be unable to travel to the UK so the majority of awards will be presented virtually.

In an 'Opening Night' programme on Saturday, April 10 - broadcast on BBC Two - host Clara Amfo will reveal eight award winners, with commentary from a panel of expert guests.

On Sunday, April 11, Edith Bowman and Dermot O'Leary will reveal the winners of the main awards in a special ceremony live from the Royal Albert Hall in London.

A limited number of awards presenters will appear on stage, while others will be beamed in from Los Angeles, and the nominees and a small audience will appear virtually.
