BBC Three announces a new spinoff of MasterChef with contestants aged between 18 and 25.

BBC Three has announced plans for a new MasterChef spinoff called Young MasterChef.

The new show, which will feature amateur chefs between the ages of 18 and 25, becomes the format's fourth regular iteration and will sit alongside the main show, Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals.

"We're delighted that Young MasterChef will be coming to BBC Three," said Kate Phillips, the BBC's controller of entertainment. "We know how much BBC viewers love MasterChef and the BBC Three series will be a great opportunity to tap into the huge wealth of young budding chefs out there, from all over the UK."

BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell added: "With its focus on the culinary talent of tomorrow, Young MasterChef has all the ingredients to be a big success for us and we can't wait to watch the next generation of food lovers from across the UK cook up a storm on BBC Three."

The 10-part series will be filmed between August and October and will air on BBC Three either later this year or in early 2023.
