Ex-Made In Chelsea star Oliver Proudlock says that he is "mortified" after posting a reference to the Holocaust on social media.

Former Made In Chelsea star Oliver Proudlock has apologised for a social media remark which indirectly referenced the Holocaust.

The 32-year-old, who is currently on holiday in Corfu, shared a selfie of him dressed in striped trousers alongside the caption: "Boy in tha stripe pyjamas."

The phrase is a reference to the 2006 novel The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, which gives an account of the horrifying events of the Holocaust through the eyes of two young boys.

After much backlash, Proudlock took down the picture and admitted that he was "mortified" by what he had posted.

"I have a massive apology to make regarding a caption in one of my stories yesterday," he wrote.

"I have hurt a lot of people with my badly chosen words and I am so, so sorry. It was incredibly ignorant.

"I always want to set a good example on social media - to spread love, equality and positivity and yesterday I really let myself, and all of you down.

"I am so truly sorry and mortified by my actions."

Proudlock was a regular cast member on the E4 reality series between 2011 and 2019.
