The sister of Love Island's Jacques O'Neill reveals that he has suffered from ADHD since the age of nine.

The sister of Love Island's Jacques O'Neill has revealed that he has been suffering from ADHD since he was a child.

The 23-year-old - a professional rugby league player - is currently coupled up with Paige Thorne but has found himself in the doghouse after his fling with Cheyanne Kerr in Casa Amor.

Jacques's sister Karen is currently managing his social media pages and has been on the receiving end of much abuse due to his behaviour in the villa, but she has explained that he can sometimes come across as distant or uncaring due to his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

In a post on his Instagram, she wrote: "Jacques was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 9 years old.

"By no means is this a get out clause for his actions but it is to show that he can fundamentally struggle with his emotions at times.

"He is an amazing person who I'm proud to call my friend/little brother."

She added: "All the hate thrown towards Jacques doesn't go to him directly....It comes to his loved ones who have always supported him and not just whilst he is on Love Island.

"Love Island, although real. Is still a show where the producers do have control and we see 45minutes out of the 1440 in 24hours. Please be kind."

ADHD affects around 2% of adults in the UK and is four times more common in men than women.
